Privacy Policy
Paint My · Version 1.0 · Effective 20 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Paint My — the drawing and painting application for Mac distributed by MAHTCA GLOBAL (the “developer,” “we,” or “us”) through Apple’s App Store — handles your information. It is provided alongside the Paint My Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (the “Terms”), which control in the event of any inconsistency.
We do not collect, receive, or store your paintings, your photos, or any information about you through Paint My. Because your paintings exist only on your Mac and wherever you choose to keep them, keep a copy of every important painting and regular backups — we cannot recover anything for you.
1. The Short Version
Paint My does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, share, host, analyze, profile, or store your paintings, your photos, their content, identifiers, usage data, or telemetry on servers controlled by us. Everything Paint My does with your paintings and photos — including Paint It for Me, Photo to Sketch, and Remove Background — happens on your Mac. We have no servers that receive your content, no account system, no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking components, and we do not train any model on your data.
To work, Paint My keeps a few things on your Mac, such as your preferences, your custom brushes, your purchase status, and a count of the free uses you have spent. Section 4 lists all of them, including the one item that stays in your Mac’s keychain when you delete Paint My.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This Privacy Policy applies to the Paint My application for macOS as distributed through Apple’s App Store, including its Quick Look thumbnail extension, and to any in-app purchase or subscription offered in it. Section 9 also describes this website and what happens when you contact us. This policy does not cover Apple’s services — such as the App Store, your Apple Account, Continuity Camera, or iCloud — which are governed by Apple’s own privacy policies, nor any third-party app, device, or service you choose to use with Paint My.
3. Data We Collect — None
For the purposes of Apple’s App Privacy framework, Paint My declares “Data Not Collected” in every category. We do not collect contact information, health or financial information, location, sensitive information, contacts, user content (including your paintings, photos, and custom brushes), browsing or search history, identifiers, purchases, usage data, diagnostics, or any other data through Paint My. The information Paint My keeps on your Mac, described below, is not received, accessed, or held by us, and is therefore not “collected” by us.
4. What Paint My Keeps on Your Mac
To work, Paint My keeps certain information on your Mac. Most of it is inside Paint My’s own sandboxed data folder; the count of free uses you have spent is also kept in your Mac’s keychain. None of it is transmitted to us.
(a) Your paintings and files. Paint My opens and saves the paintings you choose, as “.pmy” files, wherever you choose to keep them. Each “.pmy” file contains your layers as images, a short description of the canvas and its layers (such as their size, names, visibility, opacity, and blend modes, and the paper surface), and a small preview image that the Finder and Quick Look use to show a thumbnail. Exports are separate PNG, JPEG, or PSD files saved where you choose. Paint My reads photos and files only to display, import, edit, paint, or export them at your request.
(b) Preferences. Your settings and choices, such as the size and surface for new canvases, appearance, tool and stroke-stabilization settings, haptic feedback and brush sound, the undo memory budget, the position of the tools palette and the width of the Studio sidebar, the colours you last chose for each tool family, the Paint It for Me style you last used, and whether you have seen the welcome tour. macOS itself may also keep, for Paint My, a list of the paintings you opened recently, shown in File ▸ Open Recent, and the state of open windows, so that they can be reopened.
(c) Custom brushes. Brushes you save in Brush Studio, stored with your preferences on that Mac. Paint My does not import, export, share, or sync them. They remain until you delete them in Brush Studio, or until Paint My’s data folder is deleted.
(d) Purchase status. A small file in Paint My’s data folder records what the App Store last confirmed about Paint My Pro: whether Pro is active, which Paint My product provides it and whether it is a subscription or the Pay Once purchase, when this was last confirmed, a subscription’s renewal or expiry date, the free uses you have spent, and the latest date and time your Mac’s clock has shown, which is used to detect a clock moved backwards. The file carries an integrity code so that a changed file is not trusted. It contains no name, email address, Apple Account, or payment details. It lets Pro keep working for a limited time while you are offline, as described in Section 17 of the Terms.
(e) Free-use count in your keychain. A copy of the count of free uses you have spent — for each feature, its name and a number, and nothing else — is stored in your Mac’s keychain as an item identified as “com.mahtca.paintmy.trials”. Because the keychain is outside Paint My’s data folder, the item remains on your Mac when you delete Paint My or its data folder, so that reinstalling Paint My does not reset the free uses. It is not set to sync through iCloud Keychain, and it contains no personal information. You control your keychain and can remove the item; removing it in order to obtain additional free uses breaches the Terms.
(f) Temporary working files. While a painting is open, Paint My may store parts of it that you are not looking at, and older undo steps, in temporary files on your Mac to save memory. Paint My deletes them when you close the painting; if Paint My quits unexpectedly, they may remain until macOS clears temporary files.
(g) Information held only in memory. Undo history (apart from steps moved to temporary files), the mixing well, and selections exist only while Paint My is running or the painting is open. When you copy from the canvas, the copied image is placed on the macOS clipboard, where other apps you use can read it.
(h) Technical log messages. Paint My writes brief technical messages, such as how much memory it has freed, to the macOS log on your Mac. They do not contain your artwork and are not sent to us.
To remove what Paint My keeps, delete your paintings and your custom brushes, then quit Paint My and delete its data folder (Library ▸ Containers ▸ com.mahtca.app.macos.Paint-My in your home folder); deleting the Paint My app alone may leave this folder in place. The free-use count in your keychain remains, as described in (e). Copies may remain in your backups, such as Time Machine.
5. Processing on Your Mac
Paint My’s features process your paintings and photos on your Mac. Paint It for Me paints with Paint My’s own brush engine; Photo to Sketch uses Apple’s Core Image image filters; Remove Background uses Apple’s Vision framework, which runs on your Mac; and painting, layers, import, and export run in Paint My itself. Paint My has no generative artificial-intelligence features and includes no machine-learning model of its own. None of this sends your paintings or photos to us.
6. Permissions and File Access
Paint My runs inside the macOS App Sandbox. It can read and write only the files you choose — through the Open and Save dialogs, by opening them from the Finder, or by dropping a photo onto Paint It for Me — and images you paste from the clipboard. If you use Continuity Camera (File ▸ Import from iPhone or iPad), macOS handles the connection with your iPhone or iPad and passes Paint My only the photo or scan you take. Paint My does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendars, reminders, photo library, Bluetooth, screen recording, or accessibility features, and it does not use an advertising identifier or track you across apps or websites. Brush sounds are only played through your Mac’s audio output; Paint My does not listen through the microphone.
Paint My itself does not connect to the internet. Purchases, restores, and purchase checks are handled by macOS and the App Store, and the links to the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy on Paint My’s purchase screen open in your web browser.
7. What Apple May Process (Not Us)
Some operations involve Apple’s services, where Apple — not MAHTCA GLOBAL — processes information under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy: (a) in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple, which is the merchant of record; Paint My receives on your Mac only the signed records it needs to confirm what you have purchased, such as the product and its purchase, renewal, or expiry dates, and we do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account, or payment details; (b) Ask to Buy and, where it is enabled for a purchase, Family Sharing are provided by Apple; (c) if you have chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports and diagnostic information about Paint My, which are designed not to identify you and are not intended to contain your paintings or photos — you control this setting in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements; (d) App Store analytics provide us with aggregated statistics that do not identify you; and (e) Continuity Camera, iCloud Drive, and device backups are Apple services governed by your Apple settings and Apple’s policies.
8. No Third-Party Services
Paint My is built only with Apple’s own frameworks. It does not include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, attribution, social-login, tracking, fingerprinting, or behavioural-profiling components, and it does not communicate with any servers operated by MAHTCA GLOBAL. We do not use your paintings, your photos, or any other data to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, our own or anyone else’s.
9. This Website and Contacting Us
This website, www.paintmy.mahtca.com, does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, or tracking. If you close its language suggestion, your browser remembers that choice in its own storage on your device; it is not sent to us. The Mac App Store badge on this website is loaded from Apple’s servers, so Apple receives that request under its own privacy policy. Like most websites, this website is served by a hosting provider whose servers may keep standard technical logs — such as IP addresses, the pages requested, and the date and time — for security and operation; we do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
If you email us, for example at paintmy@mahtca.com or office@mahtca.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and we use them only to answer you and to handle your request, including any legal claim. We keep that correspondence only as long as needed for those purposes or as required by law, and we do not use it for marketing. Please do not send us paintings, photos, or personal data that we do not need to help you.
10. Privacy Roles
Because MAHTCA GLOBAL never sees or holds your paintings or photos, we do not act as a “controller” or “processor” of their content within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the UK GDPR, or equivalent laws. When you use Paint My to create, import, edit, or share content — including photos and images that show or contain personal data about you or other people — you determine the purposes and means of that processing on your own device, and you are responsible for handling that data lawfully. MAHTCA GLOBAL is the controller only of the correspondence you send us and of the operation of this website, as described in Section 9.
11. Children
Paint My is a general-audience app; it is not designed specifically for children, and it has no account and no chat or messaging features. You must be at least 13 years old to use Paint My on your own, or older where your country requires; anyone younger, or under the age of majority, may use Paint My only with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, as described in Section 9 of the Terms. Purchases go through the App Store, where a parent can require approval with Apple’s Ask to Buy. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children; because nothing is transmitted to us from Paint My, there is no children’s data for us to hold, delete, or report.
12. International Users
Paint My is available through Apple’s App Store. Because your paintings and photos do not leave your Mac to reach us, no transfer of your content takes place between you and MAHTCA GLOBAL. You remain subject to the data-protection law of your country of residence in your own use of Paint My, including any obligations you owe to people whose personal data appears in your photos or paintings.
13. Your Rights
Because your information stays on your Mac, you exercise control over it directly: you can view, change, export, or delete your paintings; delete your custom brushes; and delete Paint My, its data folder, and the free-use item in your keychain, as described in Section 4. Because MAHTCA GLOBAL holds no personal data of yours from Paint My, we are generally unable to act on requests to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to the processing of that data, as the data does not exist on our systems. If you have written to us, you may ask us to access, correct, or delete that correspondence, subject to any legal obligation to keep it. If you believe a data-protection right has been infringed by MAHTCA GLOBAL, contact office@mahtca.com. In Romania, you may also lodge a complaint with the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP, www.dataprotection.ro); elsewhere, with your local supervisory authority.
14. Security
Paint My runs inside the App Sandbox enforced by macOS, and because we have no servers that hold your paintings or photos, there is no server-side copy of your content to attack. The purchase-status file carries an integrity code so that a changed file is not trusted, and the information Paint My keeps on your Mac is protected by your macOS user account; we recommend a strong login password and FileVault. You are responsible for securing your Mac, keeping macOS up to date, maintaining backups, and controlling who can access your Mac. If we become aware of a security issue in Paint My that could affect you, we will publish a fix through the App Store and, where required by law, notify the relevant authorities.
15. Backups and Data Loss
Paint My cannot guarantee that your paintings, or the changes you make to them, will be preserved. Crashes, power failures, full disks, and other interruptions can damage or destroy paintings, including while they are being saved, some actions cannot be undone, and we hold no copy from which anything could be recovered. Keep a copy of every important painting and regular backups, as described in Sections 2 to 4 of the Terms.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in Paint My, applicable law, Apple’s requirements, or our practices. When we do, the version number and effective date change, and the updated policy is published at www.paintmy.mahtca.com/privacy/, which is the authoritative version and is linked from Paint My’s purchase screen. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will use reasonable efforts to inform you before it takes effect. If you do not accept an update, your remedy is to stop using and delete Paint My.
